Yac Listener Plug-in
The YAC (Yet Another Caller-ID) listener plug-in works together with one or
more YAC servers. A YAC server uses the PC modem to monitor incoming phone
calls. When a phone call is received the YAC server notifies programs called
"YAC Listeners" on the network.
The YAC listener plug-in listens for Caller-ID messages from a YAC server.
When such a message is received, the plug-in forwards the information to the
Caller ID plug-in, if installed. Optionally it
can also instruct the homevision controller to display the information on
the video screen using the built-in Caller ID display functions of the
homevision controller. The YAC configuration screen provides four modes for
displaying the Caller-ID information on the HomeVision video screen:
- Transparent
- The plug-in sets up the HomeVision controller Caller-ID screen and then
instructs the controller to display it on a transparent background
(overlayed on top of incoming video).
- Solid
- The plug-in sets up the HomeVision controller Caller-ID screen and then
instructs the controller to display it on a solid background.
- Macro
- The plug-in sets up the HomeVision controller Caller-ID screen and then
instructs the controller to run a macro. This way you can do sophisticated
things like displaying the information on a transparent or solid background
depending on the time of day, control the television to go to the
appropriate A/V input and startup a timer to shut down the controller video
automatically after some time. It is the responsibility of the macro to
actually display the information.
- None
- In this mode the plug-in will not send any information to the HomeVision
controller. This can be useful if you only want to forward the Caller-ID
data to the Caller ID plug-in.
